How to add transparency to creatives

< 1 min read

For ads to have transparency over the content, you’ll need to encode them with VP9 and include an Alpha Channel.

Here are some settings for you to use in several encoders:

Adobe Media Encoder #

  • Source Range: Entire Composition (from beginning to end of the video)
  • Format: WebM
  • Preset: Custom
  • Give it an output name and a location to save the file.
  • Export Video: Yes
  • Export Audio: Not necessary
  • Image Settings: Match Souce (this means the export will measure the same as your video does)
  • Codec Settings:
  • Codec: VP9
  • Method: Variable Bitrate
  • Bitrate: Any number that gives you an Estimated File Size of 9MB or less
  • 2-Pass Encoding: Not Necessary
  • Include Alpha Channel: Yes (to see this option, you’ll have to have installed the .WebM plugin)
  • Use Maximum Render Quality: Yes
